Ask a Star with Kelli O'Hara and Steven Pasquale

The Bridges of Madison County stars sat on Broadway.com's comfy-looking couch and answered fans' questions! (There's also a great profile of Pasquale in the New York Times.)

Beautiful Original Broadway Cast Recording

A release date has been announced for the Beautiful original Broadway cast recording, featuring Jessie Mueller and others singing Carole King's songs. The album will be available via digital outlets on April 1; physical copies (which you can pre-order now) will be available on May 13. Playbill has more. (Head over to the sh-k-boom Sound Cloud page to listen to Mueller's rendition of "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," which I think is utterly heartbreaking.)

Backstage at Pippin with Kyle Dean

Hey y'all, it's Kyle Dean! Kyle Dean Massey is back at it, once again vlogging for Broadway.com. He'll soon take on the title role in the revival of Pippin, and if you watched his previous vlog (when he was in Next to Normal), you know you'll want to tune in.  Watch the first episode and then check back each week to see Massey's adventure at the circus!

Tony Awards Updates

Spring is here, which means we're getting close to the Tonys! As we've known, the Tony Awards will be presented on Sunday, June 8, and Hugh Jackman (Les Miserables) will be our host. Tony nominations will be announced on April 29, and this week, other key dates were announced: The Meet the Nominees Press Reception will take place April 30; a Tony Nominee Luncheon is scheduled for May 20; and the Tony Honors Cocktail Reception is set for June 2. (This last event, as Playbill reports, "will feature the presentation of the Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre, the Regional Theatre Award and a celebration of the 2014 Special Award Recipients.")

In other Tony news, the Tony Awards Administration Committee met again to determine eligibility of shows and actors. They considered five shows, Beautiful; Machinal; Outside Mullingar; Bronx Bombers; and The Bridges of Madison County, and ruled:
  • Jessie Mueller is eligible in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for Beautiful

  • Debra Messing and Brian F. O'Byrne are eligible in Best Performance by an Actress/Actor in a Leading Role in a Play for Outside Mullingar
All other decisions are consistent with opening night credits, which means actors listed above the title are considered eligible in the Lead Actress/Actor category, and those listed below the title are eligible in the Featured Actress/Actor category. Visit the Tony Awards website for more.
