Grammy Nominations
Grammy Award nominations were announced this week. You can view the full list of nominees on the Grammy website. Herein, some nominees of interest:
  • Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album—Josh Groban, Stages; Seth MacFarlane, No One Ever Tells You; Tony Bennett and Bill Charlap, The Silver Lining: The Songs of Jerome Kern; Bob Dylan, Shadows in the Night; and Barry Manilow, My Dream Duets
  • Best Musical Theater Album—An American in Paris, Fun Home, Hamilton, The King and I, and Something Rotten
  • Foo Fighters—Best Rock Performance, "Something from Nothing"; and Best Music Film, Sonic Highways
  • Best Spoken Word Album—nominees include Dick Cavett, Brief Encounters: Conversations, Magic Moments, and Assorted Hijinks; Jimmy Carter, A Full Life: Reflections at Ninety; and Amy Poehler, Yes Pelase
  • Best Comedy Album—nominees include Wyatt Cenac, Brooklyn and Louis C.K., Live at Madison Square Garden
  • Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media—nominees include Antonio Sanchez, Birdman and Justin Hurwitz, Whiplash
  • Best Song Written for Visual Media—John Legend, Common, and Che Smith (songwriters), "Glory," from Selma
Kennedy Center Honors
As you might know, the Kennedy Center Honors recipients—Rita Moreno, Selji Ozawa, George Lucas, the Eagles, Cicely Tyson, and Carole King—were feted last weekend. Broadwayworld.com has the list of all the people on hand to pay tribute to this year's honorees. Tribute performers/speakers include Lin-Manuel Miranda, Yo-Yo Ma, Carrie Fisher, Martin Scorsese, Viola Davis, James Taylor, and Aretha Franklin. The celebration was hosted by Stephen Colbert, and an edited version will be broadcast on CBS on Tuesday, December 29.

Casting News
  • Norm Lewis (Porgy and Bess) and LaChanze (If/Then) will star in the Encores! presentation of Cabin in the Sky. Performances run February 10, 2016, through February 14. Broadway.com has more.

  • Matthew Morrison will depart Finding Neverland on January 24, 2016. Casting for the role of J.M. Barrie has not been announced. Broadway.com has more.

  • Laura Dern (Wild) and Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation) will join Reese Witherspoon in the HBO limited series, Big Little Lies, an adaptation of the eponymous Liane Moriarty novel. The Hollywood Reporter has details.

  • Final casting for the film adaptation of Stephen Karam's Speech and Debate has been confirmed. Austin McKenzie (Spring Awakening), Liam James (The Way Way Back), and Sarah Steele (Speech and Debate off-Broadway, The Humans) will lead the cast. Stage and screen favorite Skylar Astin will also appear, and Lin-Manuel Miranda will have a cameo. Broadway.com has more.
Year in Review
Several outlets have released their Best Of 2015 lists. (My Year in Review will be published on December 31.)
Dig This
  • Hamilton might be coming to a city near you. Lead producer Jeffery Seller says a Chicago production will be launched in September 2016, kicking off an open-ended run. Meanwhile, a West Coast production will launch, kicking of a national tour. Broadway.com has more.

  • In other bus and truck news, the Spring Awakening revival will embark on a national tour in 2017. Playbill has details.

  • Sherie Rene Scott told Out magazine's Michael Musto that Whorl Inside a Loop is moving to Broadway. "With a star," Scott added, indicating she will not be performing in the show.

  • ICYMI: SAG Award nominations and Golden Globe nominations were announced this week.

  • Michael Zegen (Bad Jews) is the latest star to be featured in Broadway.com's Fresh Face. In this edition, Zegen, who is making his Broadway debut in A View from the Bridge, talks about his first NYC apartment, dream roles, and just how gangster he is. (Zegen played Bugsy Siegel on Boardwalk Empire.)

  • Renewals: We got word this week that The Affair and Homeland have been renewed. The Showtime dramas will return next year for their third and sixth seasons, respectively. The Hollywood Reporter has more. Meanwhile, HBO announced that The Leftovers will return for a third and final season.

  • Shuffle Along, or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All that Followed will open April 28, 2016, rather than the originally scheduled April 21. Previews will begin one day later than originally planned, on March 15. Playbill has more.

  • Role Call! The effervescent Tony winner Annaleigh Ashford (You Can't Take It With You, Sylvia) stopped by Broadway.com to talk about the roles she's gotten to play over the years.
