Casting News
  • Tony nominee Brian d'Arcy James (Something Rotten, Spotlight) will star alongside Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba in the Aaron Sorkin-penned flick, Molly's Game, about a woman who runs a high-profile poker game in Hollywood. Deadline has more.

  • Nathaniel Stampley will join the company of The Color Purple in the role of Mister, beginning November 15. Current Mister, Isaiah Johnson, will play his final performance November 13. Playbill has more. 

  • House of Cards will welcome Patricia Clarkson (Shutter Island, The Elephant Man) and Campbell Scott (Noises Off) for its fifth season. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, their roles are being kept under wraps, but promise to be significant throughout the season.

  • Paul Alexander Nolan (Bright Star) will step into the role of Billy Flynn in the long-running Chicago revival. Nolan begins performances October 31. Broadway.com has more.

  • Billy Eichner has joined the cast of the upcoming Netflix series, Friends from College, for a four-episode arc. He joins the previously announced Keegan-Michael Key, Cobie Smolders, Fred Savage, and Annie Parisse. Deadline has more.
Coming to the Screen
  • The live recording of the recent She Loves Me revival will hit movie theaters on December 1. Featuring Laura Benanti, Zachary Levi, Jane Krakowski, and Gavin Creel, the show was filmed and live-streamed on June 30. Now, fans have a chance to see the glorious production on the big screen.   • A new movie version of Oliver Twist is headed to the big screen, with Tony and Emmy winner Thomas Kail (Hamilton, Grease Live) and stereo and screen mogul Ice Cube at the helm. Cube is also reportedly in talks to play Fagin. The Hollywood Reporter has more.

  • Bye Bye Birdie will be the next NBC live musical telecast, airing in December 2017, and Jennifer Lopez will star as Rosie. No additional casting has been announced, but we do know the Harvey Fierstein will write the adaptation. Broadway.com has more.
Coming to the Stage
  • A Broadway revival of Sunset Boulevard, starring Glenn Close (A Delicate Balance) as Norma Desmond, is confirmed. The limited engagement will play the Palace Theatre. Previews begin February 2, 2017, and opening night is set for February 9. Broadway.com has more.

  • As previously speculated, Indecent will bow on Broadway this spring. Opening night for the Paula Vogel play will be April 18, 2017. Preview dates and a theatre have yet to be announced. Broadway.com has more.
In Other News
  • The Jake Gyllenhaal–led Broadway revival of Burn This is being postponed "due to scheduling conflicts with the show's star." The revival is now aiming to bow during the 2017-2018 season. The production was supposed to reopen the Hudson Theatre this spring. The theatre owners, however, said that another show for the Hudson would be announced soon. The New York Times has more. Gyllenhaal was last on Broadway in Nick Payne's Constellations, and he just finished an incredible four-performance concert run of Sunday in the Park with George.

  • Billboard checks in with Josh Groban as the singer readies to make his Broadway debut. Groban is starring as Pierre in The Great Comet, which is in previews and opens November 14.

  • There will be a cast recording of the current Falsettos revival, which features Christian Borle and Stephanie J. Block. A release date has yet to be announced. Broadway.com has more.
