Coming to the Boards
Regional—There's a stage adaptation of Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill in the works, and it's premiering at American Repertory Theater (in Massachusetts) next year. Featuring Morissette's music and a book by Oscar winner Diablo Cody (Juno, Young Adult), Jagged Little Pill will be directed by Tony winner Diane Paulus (Pippin, Waitress) and feature orchestrations by Tony and Pulitzer winner Tom Kitt (Next to Normal, If/Then), who, you might remember, also provided the incredible orchestrations for American Idiot. Off-Broadway—A new play by Zoe Kazan (as a writer: We Live Here, as an actress: Love, Love, Love) has been added to Lincoln Center Theater's 2017-2018 season. After the Blast, set in a Children of Men-style dystopia, will begin performances at the LCT 3 Claire Tow Theatre October 7. Opening night is set for October 23, and the limited engagement is scheduled to conclude November 19. Lila Neugebauer will direct. Playbill has more.

Public Theater 2017-2018 Season
The venerable off-Broadway company, which launched recent hits like Hamilton, has announced its 2017-2018 season. Among other productions, the season includes Elevator Repair Service's take on Measure for Measure, running September 18-October 29; the New York premiere of Office Hour, a new play by Julia Cho (Aubergine), running October 17-December 3; Low Road, written by Bruce Norris (Clybourne Park, The Qualms) and directed by Michael Greif (Dear Evan Hansen), running February 13- April 1, 2018; and Milma's Tale, a new play from Lynn Nottage, whose Sweat played at the Public last year before transferring to Broadway and winning the Pulitzer this year. In Other News
  • The fun-filled musical On Your Feet will conclude its Broadway run on August 20. The show, which chronicles the life of Gloria and Emilio Estefan and uses their music, opened on Broadway in November 2015. Theater Mania has more.

  • As New York City Ballet prepares for its summer stint at Washington, DC's Kennedy Center, The Washington Post explores what it's like to endure pointe shoes.

  • The first round of Tony Award presenters have been announced. Current nominees Josh Groban, Bette Midler, and Ben Platt will pull double duty, serving as presenters. Other presenters include Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, and Keegan-Michael Key. Broadway's biggest night is Sunday, June 11.

  • The audio-book company Audible has announced a $5 million grant to commission works from emerging playwrights. Selected playwrights will write one– or two–person radio plays that will be produced and distributed specifically for and by Audible. Playbill has more.

  • The Chis Hutchinson play Somebody's Daughter has been extended. The Second Stage Uptown production, which focuses on three Asian women, daughters all, will now run through June 25. The play opens June 6. Theater Mania has more.
